The "Three burning children" were three Jewish youths, Ananias, Azarias and Mishael. They studied in the imperial court and the Prophet Daniel had chosen them as his associates, placing them in high positions in the kingdom. In those years, the king of the Babylonians was Nebuchadnezzar, who made his own "golden image" and demanded that all the officials and the people worship it. The three girls refused to worship her and immediately complained to the king. Then, the king threatened them that he would throw them into a fiery furnace if they did not change their minds. Indeed, this is how it happened, but the three children came out safe and unharmed, praising the Lord ceaselessly. Their memory is commemorated together with the Prophet Daniel on December 17.
