Filoumenos (November 29)

New martyr, he was a guardian in the Holy Pilgrimages of Jerusalem and specifically in the Well of Jacob. A deep well (38 meters deep) that has winter-summer, water over 3,000 years. It was in this well that the most theological dialogue took place with Jesus and the former sinful Samaritan woman. One rainy afternoon, a Jew secretly entered with a "group" of pilgrims, and when Philoumenos was reading the Vespers alone during the pilgrimage, he attacked him with an ax, struck him many times and left him dead in a pool of blood. After 3 years, the same Jew attacked the current guardian of the pilgrimage, who, after disarming him, handed him over to the police. But Filoumenos, giving his life on the sacred duty, became one of the new martyrs of our time, performing many miracles.
